FIREBRAND GLASS, TRANSECT, 2017
Location: 108 STREET BETWEEN 99 AVE AND 100 AVE
Transect acts as a landmark; a visually dynamic form that provides a focal point for the street around it, while also serving to locate the viewer into the space they occupy and center them in a moment in time, culturally and historically. The sculpture’s apertures act as windows showing historical images of Edmonton in transition – construction, de-construction, carts, ferries and provisional structures. Transect emphasizes and celebrates the collaboration, connection and community found in these events and expressed them as a journey that has led to how we understand our environment in the present day and acknowledge the many unseen people and events that aided the journey to the present.
